It’s been more than a year since we got to vibe to our favorite songs at the club, drink in hand, with our barkada, and having the time of their lives on the dance floor. We can vaguely remember the last time we hung out beyond 10 p.m. outside, waiting until sunrise at the nearest McDonald’s.

If there’s something we miss about the pre-pandemic nightlife, it’s spending time with our friends and making new memories together. Thankfully, we can still do all of those things—virtually, that is.

Thanks to video conferencing applications like Zoom and Skype, we can still go to our weekly e-numan sesh with our barkada. Oh, but don’t forget about the drinks!

Since we can’t order our favorite cocktails at the bar right now, here are 7 drinks you can easily make at home:

Soju Yakult

If you’ve watched enough K-Dramas, you would know that Soju is their staple inuman drink. It’s a clear, distilled alcoholic drink made from starches, wheat, and barley, that tastes good when mixed with the famous probiotic drink Yakult.

What you’ll need:

  • 400ml Soju
  • 2 bottles of Yakult (original flavor)
  • 50ml Sprite

Procedure:

Prepare a pitcher and fill it halfway with ice cubes. Then, simply add all the ingredients to the pitcher, and mix it evenly.

Mimosa

Mimosas may sound super fancy and elegant, but they can be mixed using common grocery items too. In fact, you only need two ingredients!

What you’ll need:

  • Dry sparkling wine or white wine
  • Orange juice

Procedure:

Mimosas are easily customizable, especially since you only have two ingredients to measure. If you want the classic mimosa, you can use 1 part of sparkling wine and 1 part of orange juice, mix them together in a glass, and serve.

If you want your mimosa to be less sweet, however, you can use 2 parts of sparkling wine for one part of orange juice.

Boracay

The Boracay mix will surely remind you of the beautiful beaches on the island!

What you’ll need:

  • 100ml of coffee
  • 50g of chocolate malt powder
  • 1 tablespoon of condensed milk
  • 1 shot of Rum

Procedure:

In a glass, pour the chocolate malt powder, condensed milk, and coffee. Stir until the texture is smooth and you’ve removed all the lumps from the powder ingredients. Then, add a shot of rum for that extra flavor!

Velocity

If you like your cocktail drink without the strong alcohol flavor, Velocity is definitely something you should try with friends!

Procedure:

  • 2 shots of Gin
  • 2 shots of Gatorade
  • 2 shots of Sprite
  • 1 lemon

Procedure:

Use a shot glass to measure your liquid ingredients. In a glass, pour two parts each of Gin, Gatorade (any flavor will do!), and Sprite. Mix them well, then add ice and a slice of lemon for a refreshing taste.

Gin Pomelo

Back in our college days, the famous Gin Pom was a staple drink, especially when the barkada is on a budget. You only need two ingredients to make the drink, and they’re both super affordable too!

What you’ll need:

  • 2 packs of pomelo juice powder
  • 250ml of gin

Procedure:

Prepare a pitcher, crushed ice, and 750ml of drinking water. Then, pour 2 packs of pomelo juice powder, and mix until no lumps are visible. Once the mixture is smooth, add 250ml of gin. Make sure to serve this drink will a lot of ice!

Mestiza

This drink will remind you of iced tea because of its color, but don’t be fooled! It can be pretty strong and potent.

What you’ll need:

  • A shot of dark rum
  • 100ml of beer
  • 100ml of your favorite soda

Procedure:

Making the famous Mestiza drink is simple, just pour all three ingredients in a glass, put in some ice cubes, and enjoy! For added flavor, you can also serve it with lemon or calamansi slices in the drink!

Wacoco

We’re all dreaming of a fun and relaxing getaway. While we can’t go on that highly anticipated vacay right now, a taste of Wacoco is close enough!

What you’ll need:

  • 15ml of calamansi juice
  • 60ml of watermelon juice
  • 15ml of coconut rum
  • 30ml of white rum
  • 10ml of simple syrup
  • A dash of sugar

Procedure:

First, mix all the liquid ingredients in a glass. If you have a tin shaker, however, that will make the mix even tastier! After mixing the liquid ingredients well, fill a small glass with ice and pour the mixture. Add a slice of watermelon and some mint leaves for a refreshing layer of flavor. Then, just sprinkle a dash of powdered sugar on top, and it’s done!
